That Green Gown Maternity Shoot

I love the color green. No, scratch that! I LOVE the color green. Emerald. Jade. Sage. I love all of those shades of green!

When I found out Jeanie (mom to be, again) had chosen a velvet green gown for her maternity portrait shoot, I couldn't hide my excitement and I became very inspired the day of. Partly due to the dress and partly due to the environment we were in- The Virginia Arboretum in Boyce, Virginia.

We actually scheduled the portrait session to take place a few hours prior to her actual baby shower- talk about time crunch and pressure. It was cold and a bit windy, but the sun was shining, and we were both excited to make some beautiful art together.

Tips for a killer maternity session, in my mind:

  1. Find a color that makes your eyes pop. Your hair pop. Your smile pop.

  2. Look for a long, flowing dress in that color.

  3. Find an environment that fosters calm and joy for you.

  4. Smile- it's some of the first portraits you will take with your bundle of joy to come.
